Understanding the FolioMetrix Research Pipeline
The FolioMetrix Pipeline represents a broad range of research programs, each one seeking to identify and validate research candidates with the potential to improve the way your clients’ investment portfolios perform.
Our research programs range from testing basic ideas and concepts on traditional asset allocation strategies, as well as in-depth quantitative and technical analysis of investment managers, to methods designed to help you deliver best-in-class investment solutions quickly and with ease.
All of our research programs evolve through the following three phases:
Phase 1) Identification – Our team begins each day by reviewing all active research projects in the pipeline and exploring potential new research candidates. Once a research candidate is identified it goes through a number of preliminary tests. If it passes it moves to the validation phase.
Phase 2) Validation – When a potential research candidate has been identified it is tested through various time periods and market cycles. This validation process can take many months and few research candidates go the distance. Those that do are published in a Research Brief and move to the distribution phase.
Phase 3) Distribution – Once in distribution, you can access the final research programs in the form of a portfolio that can be applied directly to your existing clients’ accounts. In addition, some portfolio models can be accessed through actual investment products, as with Equity, a growth allocation model and Fixed Income, a total return portfolio model, which are now the portfolio models for the FMX Growth Allocation and FMX Total Return mutual funds.

All of our research programs are advancing toward widespread distribution so the models you are familiar with can be accessed in a variety of investment solutions and products, such as Annuities, 401K’s, Mutual Funds and Unified Managed Accounts.
